Opsys’ Latest Innovation A Stainless-Steel Housing Enhances

Durability And Accuracy Further for Harsh Outdoor Conditions

San Jose, Ca. US – 10th March 2026. Opsys today unveiled a rugged stainless-steel housing for its Smart 4D LiDAR sensor, designed specifically for the demanding conditions of outdoor harsh environments. The new enclosure provides mission‑grade protection that preserves optical performance while improving operational uptime and reliability.

The main key benefits of Opsys’ latest innovation are:

  • Environmental protection: Fully sealed stainless-steel enclosure prevents ingress of dust, moisture and debris, maintaining optic integrity and measurement accuracy.

  • Mechanical resilience: Engineered to withstand shock and vibration for reliable mounting on maintenance trains, inspection robots and heavy equipment.

  • Thermal efficiency: Passive thermal management controls sensor temperature without bulky active cooling, ideal for compact tunnel installations.

  • Signal stability: Internal design minimizes reflections and electromagnetic interference to deliver cleaner, more accurate returns.

  • Operational continuity: Reduced maintenance and fewer false positives translate to more dependable data when safety and uptime are critical.

"This is the first stainless steel enclosure purpose‑built for LiDAR in the field. It’s designed to withstand the heavy loads and harsh conditions our customers face. By eliminating frequent repairs and reducing downtime, it delivers significant cost efficiencies while preserving measurement integrity where reliability matters most. We’re excited to bring this to the market and demonstrate our commitment as a company to always push the boundaries when it comes to innovation" said Guy Gertel, SVP & CPO, Opsys.

Opsys will demonstrate the LiDAR sensor in its stainless-steel housing at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2026. Visit booth 131, Hall 2, for a live demonstration, product briefings, and an opportunity to evaluate ruggedness and performance first‑hand.
